Welcome to the HMCRP HM-07 Pilot Test Website.

As part of the HMCRP HM-07 project "Accident Performance of Bulk Packages Used for Hazardous Materials Transportation", this pilot test has been designed to collect information concerning bulk packages (cargo tanks and portable tanks) that have been involved in an accident.  The information collected includes:
  • Bulk Package Design Information -
    • For cargo tanks, this section collects information found visually or listed on the cargo tank "name plate".
    • For portable tanks, this section collects information found visually, stamped on the tank's head or on a separate placard, or provided as part of the container specifications.
  • Basic Commodity Information
    • This section collects information found in shipping papers associated with the commodity transported at the time of the accident
  • Bulk Container Damage Information
    • This section collects information on the area(s), components, and type of damage incurred during the accident as well as the amount of lading lost.
  • Basic Accident Information
    • This section collects information on the impacting object, bulk package and impacting object speed (if applicable), and whether the bulk package rolled over.

The pilot test was designed to enable bulk package accident damage information to be collected accurately and with minimal difficulty for pilot test participants.  However,  the project team envisions the incorporation of several additional features in a fully implemented system.  We therefore ask participants to share their ideas on how to improve the collection process.
